Thousands lined the course, millions watched on TV as Indy Hurling took to the fairways October 10th at Winding Ridge Golf Club on Indy's eastside. Thankfully, the masses were watching the match up between the USA & the Internationals in the President’s Cup, rather than the battle between willing hurlers and their disobedient golf swings - although it’s no exaggeration to say that the level of play at both events was “astounding!” With bright sunshine, a cool breeze and tireless beer cart girls, conditions were near perfect for a fun afternoon’s golf, as 35 golfers set out to show Tiger how the game should be played…!!
After all was said and done (and many things were said & done that cannot be repeated here…) the team of Kyle Bucher, Bruce Borders, Matt Curley & Ken Hartkorn emerged as the victors with a 17-under-par total. Second place went to David White, Aoife White, Brogan Sheedy & Danny Lemmink on 16-under par, with 3rd place going to Peter Mackey, Josh Kupke, Ian Heraty & Tim Burkey.
Longest drive for men went to Matt Curley, with Lindsay Amore taking both the longest drive for women and the closest to the pin competitions.
Many thanks to everyone who took part, to our sponsors for their generous support and to Winding Ridge Golf Club for their facilities.
Indy Hurling Club looks forward to seeing you all again on the fairways/rough/bunkers/trees/water hazards in 2010…!!
