2016 Pickem Challenge - Week 3
Pickem Recap - Week 3
Speer extends his lead...
Another exciting week of the 2016 Indy GAA Pub League has concluded and the cream has definitely begun to rise to the top! With the average picks from Week 3 at 4.7/6, members of the club seem to have figured out which teams to keep an eye on this year. Adam Speer maintains his spot at the top as he picked 6 out 6 this week, with Jason Mulvey and Hugh Kelly still in second. Joining Speer with perfect picks this week were Jimmy Pepper, Tim Boyll, and Jeremy Fagan. The Swami and a host of others are also still only a few points back! Let’s take a look at this week’s matches…

At 10am, Renner-Nixon Body Works entered the game receiving 95% of the picks to win over a strong Hotel Tango/Wilks & Wilson team. Hotel Tango jumped to a large lead at halftime, but Renner’s was able to mount a furious comeback in the second half, winning 6-15 to 6-12. On Field 2, Bent Rail Brewery looked for their first victory of the season over a heavily favored 9 Irish Brothers squad. Despite only receiving 29% of the picks, Bent Rail dominated from start to finish, winning 10-13 to 1-8.

At 11am, Connor’s Pub faced Smoking Iron Alterations in a highly anticipated matchup, and with 86% of the picks, Connor’s hoped to extend their winning streak dating back to last year. Despite their undefeated records, there was little drama as Connor’s beat short-handed Smoking Iron 5-18 to 1-3. In the other 11am match, Langton’s Irish Pub hoped to get back in the win column against a Triton Brewing Co. squad hoping to just get into the win column. With 95% of the picks, Langton’s left no doubt, winning easily 8-20 to 1-3 over a disappointed Triton team.

At noon, HealthSolutions of Carmel met a determined Daredevil Brewing Co. team, each hoping to win their second game of the year. With 67% of the picks, HealthSolutions were able to edge out the Devils in the end, winning 4-19 to 4-11. And in our Sunday Doubleheader, Renner’s and Bent Rail faced off, each coming off a win in the morning matches. Renner’s was the unanimous pick to win the game, but Bent Rail had no plans of laying down and only trailed by 2 at the half. However, after a strong second half Renner’s finally pulled away to stay undefeated, winning 7-18 to 4-14.

Can Connor’s and Renner’s stay undefeated? Will Triton get their first win of the year? Will Liverpool make it back to Europe this year? With 42 points still available this year in the Pickem Challenge, it’s still anyone’s game!

Here is the schedule for next week’s matches, make sure to get your picks into indygaapickem@hotmail.com by 9am on Sunday. Good luck!
